ABOUT the NACA |
The North American Corriente Association (NACA) is the official breed association and purebred registry for Corriente cattle in the United States and Canada. Founded in 1982 by a small group of ranchers who were determined to preserve the traditional Corriente type, NACA was born out of a simple problem: it was getting harder and harder to find good, healthy Mexican steers of true Corriente type to rope and bulldog. Those ranchers joined forces to protect the breed, promote its athletic ability, and make sure future generations could enjoy these cattle just as they had.
From the beginning, NACA’s most important job has been to maintain an accurate, trustworthy cattle registry. Our registry documents the pedigrees of registered Corriente cattle so breeders, buyers, and competitors know they’re working with pure, consistent genetics that meet breed standards. After more than 40 years of continuous record-keeping, the NACA registry represents some of the most established purebred Corriente genetics in North America.
Today, NACA is much more than a registry. We are a member-driven association focused on education, networking, and promoting the Corriente breed. We support members with educational resources about breeding, conformation, performance, and beef production; we host and support a national cattle show and sanctioned events; and we offer members-only team ropings and other activities that highlight the natural athleticism and durability of Corriente cattle.
NACA exists to promote and preserve purebred Corriente cattle while supporting the people who raise, use, and enjoy them. We are committed to:
Protecting and advancing pure Corriente genetics through a reliable registry
Providing education that helps members raise sound, athletic, efficient cattle
Creating opportunities for members to connect, compete, and collaborate
Showcasing the versatility of Corriente cattle in sport, ranch work, and beef production.
Whether you run a large ranch, a small herd, or you’re just getting started with Corriente cattle, NACA is here to help you learn, grow, and be part of a strong, supportive community built around this remarkable breed.
